Balan Dosa was started in 1977 by Balakrishnan Pullur with an aim to serve dishes belonging to his motherland in Kerala but with a twist. He started this journey from Ratri Bazaar, in Manek Chowk area of old Ahmedabad. The unique thing about this place was it was a jewellers market during the day time and as the night set in the place was buzzing with various food stalls offering various types of dishes that were not available anywhere else in the city.

Of all the various south Indian restaurants and food stalls that offered Dosas and Idlis to the. people of the city, Mr. Pullur decided to serve them with a bit of twist that matches the taste buds of the city as well as some recipes were the masterstroke by Mr. Pullur himself.

Our Story

41 years ago we started our journey from Ratri Bazaar, in Manek Chowk area of old Ahmedabad. Now Balan Dosa has started to offer its amazing dishes to the recently settled western areas of the city like one in a food truck park near Rajpath Club and one in Moreish food court section of Gulmohar Mall in Satellite.

Delicious Food

Plain dosa, masala dosa, onion dosa, Gwalior dosa, Mysore dosa, sandwich uthapa, powder pepper, sambhar and coconut chutney are few of the scrumptious South Indian recipes which are quite liked by everyone.

This classic variant has a balan secret mix of spices to take

Sp. Ghughro Sandwich

This is a quintessential Amdawadized sandwich for you.
With serious amount of cheese and butter, the vegges bring
the real tang to it. It is definitely a must try.

Cadbury Sandwich

This recipe has its roots from the Manek Chowk, and
we have well adapted it to serve it all our joints.
The loads of cheese and butter with Chocolate is sure
to win your hearts.

Pineapple Sandwich

This sandwich as well is inspired from Manek Chowk,
the juicy sandwich is one heck of an invention!

Italian Pizza

The classic pizza in an Ahmedabadized version, with huge
loads of cheese for your liking.

Bhaji Mix Pulao

This has been our best seller since we have started offering it.
It makes it different than the rest because of our ingredients
and the way we make it.

Bhaji Pav

Butter and loads of it follow its trail to this classic snack and
makes it one our best offering.

Jini Dosa

This dosa has an origin from the street food joints of Mumbai,
but well adapted by Balan Dosa and another of
our crowd favorites.

Rava Masala Dosa

This classic variant is made from semolina and has a unique
crunchiness to it, stuffed with an amazing potato and
herbs served with Sambhar and Chuney.

Paper Dosa

Amongst all the huge number of choices to order from,
this age old delicacy is for those who stick to their basics and
love a classic Dosa done just right.

Gotada Dosa

This brilliant dosa is an inspiration of the famous “Surti Gotala”
adapted to a dosa! The only difference is it is made from
vegetarian ingredients only. It does do complete justice to
the iconic delicacy but veggie Dosa style!

Gwalior Dosa

Lakes of butter in your dosa? Yes you heard it right. You must try
this Ahmedabad’s most favourite dosa delicacy which has
been a hosteller for more than 25 years.

This has been our bestseller since we have started offering it.
It makes it different than the rest because of our ingredients and
